Washington, D.C.: Martin Luther King Memorial

Posted on 4:32 PM by
Last summer, the Martin Luther King, Jr., National Memorial opened in Washington, D.C. The four-acre monument is the first to a black man on the mall, with an impressive stone Dr. King His stone facing the Jefferson Memorial across the water. Lincoln sits behind him, and Roosevelt is to his right.

I recently visited on a clear evening and was moved by visitors who were brought to tears by the sight of the monument. My eyes watered at the sight of the young boy in the photo below looking up at the face of Dr. King.
