Getting in the mood: road trip movies

Posted on 8:05 PM by
My husband has the pre-trip blues. Before our family takes off for two and a half weeks, he must wrap up several projects for work. Last night, he even pulled an all-nighter. At this point, I think he feels as if it would be easier to stay home.

To help my husband get out of his funk, I decided to rent a road trip movie, something to put him in the mood for our Route 66 adventure.

I brainstormed a list of road trip videos (see below) and ended up renting National Lampoon's Vacation. If anyone can spark enthusiasm for a road trip it's Clark Griswold, who treks across the country with his two kids and wife in search of fun at Wally World.

Best Road Trip Films
The Blues Brothers
Cars
Easy Rider
Fandango
The Great Race
Midnight Run
Little Miss Sunshine
The Muppet Movie
National Lampoon's Vacation
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
Road Trip
Thelma and Louise
When Harry Met Sally
Smokey & the Bandit
Rain Man

Do you have a favorite road trip movie that's not on the list?
